Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) for Survey and Inspection

With our highly experienced consortium partner Cyberhawk Innovations, we can provide UAV surveys utilising state of the art fixed-wing and multi-rotor UAV platforms (also known as drones).

Using photogrammetric techniques we can provide detailed survey information with the added benefit of high-resolution aerial photography.

    • A high resolution geo-referenced aerial image which is related to OS National Grid with a ground resolution of 3cm/pixel or better.
  • Digital Elevation Models (DEM)
    • Topographic data related to OS National Grid with accuracy of +/- 50mm or better.  Provided on a 1m grid.
  • Aerial Panoramic Images
    • A single image acquired from up to 120m above the ground to show 360o or 180o fields of view

Our consortium partner Cyberhawk also provide visual inspection services for tall, live or difficult to access structures using multi-rotor UAVs. High resolution imagery and inspection engineer reports can be provided for structure such as:

 Large area coverage by LiDAR

LIDAR is a method of terrain mapping, which uses a laser to measure the distance between the sensor, normally airborne, and the ground surface. The resulting highly accurate terrain map is suitable for assessing flood risk, engineering projects and land and property development. LiDAR is also suitable for 3D visualisation and modelling.

We have embraced laser mapping technologies and are able to offer, with our consortium partners, low-level helicopter-based laser mapping, combined with video and digital aerial photography. This provides transportation, energy and environmental engineers with a range of information rich datasets to facilitate infrastructure design and asset management.
