Vote for Team UnLimbited to win Shed of the Year!

Team UnLimbited, the charity set up by an Ogilvie Geomatics employee to provide free prosthetics to children, has been nominated for a unique award. Channel 4 has shortlisted the shed in which Ogilvie Technician Stephen Davies 3D prints the prosthetics for its ‘Shed of the Year’.

The shed, in the garden of Stephen’s Swansea home, has been nominated in the Workshop/Studio category and needs your help to get to the final, where a panel of judges will pick a winner and be crowned Shed of the Year on Channel 4.

Ogilvie completes bathymetric survey of River Clyde

Ogilvie Geomatics have recently carried out a bathymetric survey on the River Clyde for the inlet area of a proposed water source heat pump. Following a review of the survey, the pump will power a district heating scheme to supply heat to nearby properties.

Ogilvie's expert surveyors were using a HyDrone-ASV remote controlled platform, like the one below, to complete a full survey of the river bed.

Ogilvie Geomatics has expanded its land and building surveying operations with the acquisition of Manchester based Malcolm Hughes Land Surveyors Limited. The business will operate alongside Ogilvie Geomatics’ other subsidiary companies of Loy Surveys and Longdin and Browning. The combined operation will have an annual turnover of circa £7.5million and employ over 100 staff in offices in Renfrew, Livingston, Manchester, Swansea and Milton Keynes.

The acquisition is part of a planned strategy for growth in the surveying business and will enhance Ogilvie Geomatics’ well-established reputation for quality and customer service. The incorporation of Malcolm Hughes allows Ogilvie Geomatics to provide a full range of innovative Topographical, Hydrographic, Engineering and Geospatial survey solutions across a broad range of sectors including roads, railways and waterways.

Mark McGarragh, Managing Director, Ogilvie Geomatics, said: “This is an exciting time for Ogilvie Geomatics as we consolidate our position as a major UK surveying business. The acquisition is an excellent fit for the business and broadens our range of specialist services available across the UK.”

Nick Hampson, Managing Director, Malcolm Hughes said: “I am very much enthused by this deal and looking forward to working with team to make Ogilvie Geomatics a major player in the industry.”

Nick Hampson will remain in his current position as Managing Director of Malcolm Hughes. Outgoing majority shareholder John Furniss will become Non-Executive Chairman at Ogilvie Geomatics to assist Managing Director Mark McGarragh, Nick Hampson and Directors Alasdair Bain and Phil Wright with the integration of all 3 parts of the operations going forward.

Ogilvie Geomatics is part of the Ogilvie Group, one of the UK’s most consistently successful family owned businesses. The company is over 60 years old and employs over 450 people across its various business operations.
